About the role

The Cloud Engineer is qualified and experienced in all things cloud. More than that, the Cloud Engineer will want to stay at the forefront of distributed computing, keeping Sportsbet at the forefront of cloud technology. The successful candidate will be a technical expert relating to cloud practices and will assist in setting the technical direction within our Betting Product Technology team.

Day to day, you’ll cover the following:

  • You will work as part of a development team to design best-practice AWS solutions for new products
  • You will help the application engineers to become self-sufficient.
  • You will be a key member in the development of new product-generating solutions delivered from inception to live.
  • You will deliver solutions that comply with the company’s patterns and standards.
  • With a strong understanding of the SDLC, you will work closely with application developers to yield pragmatic, cost-effective options

About You

  • Mid-Senior level AWS experience
  • Exposure to design APIs. You know what RESTful services is and when to use JSON or XML.
  • A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
  • Lots of experience with Linux/UNIX/Windows systems and the best practices for deploying applications to those stacks.
  • Experience with different databases, including working knowledge of SQL, relational and non-relational data stores.
  • Experience with CICD pipelines and tools.
  • Strong hands-on experience with key AWS Services like VPC, SG, EC2, ECS, S3, Lambda, RDS, and Cloud Formation.
  • A working knowledge of queuing systems for microservices like Kafka, Rabbit, SQS, Kinesis
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker
  • Hands-on experience with Ansible, Git, Bash (Linux), and PowerShell (Windows).
