Job Description
The Cloud Operations Engineer will collaborate with our engineering teams to implement, optimize, and maintain our organization’s cloud-based information systems. This role requires a deep understanding of Azure, Azure DevOps, the Cloud Adoption Framework, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and the DevSecOps model to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient cloud solutions.
The Cloud Engineer’s responsibilities include deploying, supporting, debugging, and securing systems, as well as executing new cloud initiatives aligned with our strategic goals. The ideal candidate will work closely with various IT professionals and teams to ensure our cloud computing systems meet the needs of our organization and customers.
- This is a hybrid-office position and requires regular office attendance in either Minnetonka, MN, or Tampa, FL
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
With general direction, responsible to:
- Design, develop, and deploy modular cloud-based systems with a focus on automation and scalability.
- Develop and maintain cloud solutions by best practices, particularly leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Implement and manage Azure DevOps pipelines for continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), ensuring alignment with the DevSecOps model.
- Ensure efficient functioning of data storage and processing functions, adhering to company security policies and cloud security best practices.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve cloud infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues, incorporating automated security testing within CI/CD pipelines.
- Regularly review existing cloud systems and make recommendations for improvements, particularly in line with the Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Build platforms to provide application teams visibility into their Azure utilization, and optimization recommendations.
- Interact with internal clients, provide cloud support, and make tailored recommendations based on client needs, ensuring alignment with industry standards and best practices.
- Provision, manage, monitor, test, and decommission cloud services with a focus on automation, least privilege security, RBAC, and efficiency.
- Stay current on emerging cloud technologies and assigned technical concepts; model and enforce best practices in cloud architecture and security.
- Document and resolve complex problems with a focus on continuous improvement and automation.
- Report progress and critical issues to leadership, offering solutions and recommendations for ongoing cloud strategy.
- Other duties as assigned or required.
Experience
- Typically has 3-7 years of relevant experience in cloud engineering, with a strong emphasis on Azure Operations and best practices.
Technical Skills
- Proven work experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role, with demonstrable expertise in Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipeline management, and cloud security best practices.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep.
- Familiarity with the Cloud Adoption Framework and its application in enterprise environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and proactive problem resolution.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally to achieve cloud strategy goals.
- Client management skills, including the ability to discuss complex cloud systems and make recommendations that align with business needs.
- Relevant training and/or certifications as a Cloud Engineer, particularly in Azure and other relevant cloud platforms.
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field; or equivalent work experience.

- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously, managing time and resources efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, ensuring accuracy in cloud deployments and documentation.
- Ability to work from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with flexibility as needed for project deadlines.
- Consistent attendance is required, including participation in after-hours company events as needed.
- Ability to accept supervision, and feedback, and collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Ability to foster, develop, and maintain professional relationships with peers, supervisors, customers, and vendors.
- Ability to interact professionally with all levels of management, employees, and customers through various communication channels.

- Ability to work overtime as requested and approved by supervisor.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, with the ability to create clear and concise documentation.
Physical/Mental Demands
- Overnight business travel by air and/or automobile may be required to meet project and client needs.
- A valid driver’s license and auto insurance may be required depending on the nature of the assignments.
- The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information is essential.
- The ability to perform under pressure and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Repetitive and continual keyboard activity and interaction with display monitors are required.
Sedentary work: The majority of activity in this position involves sitting, standing, walking, and the occasional need to lift or move objects.
