We’re working with a fully remote tech startup, founded in Amsterdam, looking for a skilled DevOps Engineer to help scale their cloud infrastructure. If you’re passionate about AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.

This startup is in an exciting growth phase, with a dedicated team of about 10 colleagues and plans to double in size soon. After five years of refining their product, they’re now scaling a two-sided marketplace in the travel & hospitality industry.

About the role

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the platform’s reliability, scalability, and performance. You’ll be responsible for managing and optimizing the infrastructure that supports the company’s growing user base. This role involves working closely with developers to streamline deployment processes, automate workflows, and monitor system health in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

What you’ll do

  • Infrastructure management: Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure using AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda. You’ll ensure the infrastructure is scalable and secure while optimizing for performance and cost.
  • CI/CD pipeline: Develop and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions. Automate build, test, and deployment processes to enhance development efficiency.
  • Containerization: Implement and manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate them with Kubernetes, ensuring seamless deployment and scaling.
  • Automation: Use infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Terraform to automate infrastructure provisioning and management, ensuring consistency and repeatability.
  • Monitoring & alerting: Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch to maintain system performance and uptime.
  • Security: Implement and maintain security best practices, including managing security groups, firewalls, and access controls, as well as conducting regular security audits.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related issues promptly, minimizing downtime and ensuring quick recovery during incidents.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the development team to support their needs, streamline workflows, and ensure smooth, reliable deployments.

Who you are

  • Experienced: 3-5 years of experience in DevOps, cloud infrastructure, or systems engineering, with a strong focus on AWS.
  • Tool-proficient: Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, and GitHub Actions.
  • Automation-focused: Skilled in scripting languages such as Bash or Python and experienced in automating complex workflows.
  • Security-conscious: Well-versed in cloud security practices and capable of implementing robust security measures.
  • Problem solver: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues.
  • Collaborative: Enjoys working in a remote-first, cross-functional team, with excellent communication skills.
  • Self-motivated: Thrives in a startup environment where you can take initiative and drive improvements.
